“Communicating as Public Authorities in the Migration Context:Potential and Good Practice”
which will take place on 26 June 2019 in Berlin.
With this conference, the DE EMN NCP would like to bring together employees with responsibility for communication in federal and state ministries and authorities, municipal institutions, as well as civil society and the European Migration Network for an exchange of views and expertise.
From a different perspective, the topics of communication and migration are considered in the context of the practical work of public authorities. The conference will begin with a presentation by Nicole Romain, Fundamental Rights Agency of the European Union, on the importance and elements of strategic communication and a presentation by Ave Lauren as the Chair of the EMN Communication and Dissemination Working Group. In a subsequent panel discussion on “Strategic communication from the perspective of the authorities and national and regional level”, approaches and strategies for communication work in the migration context of the various federal levels will be discussed.
In four workshops, each of which will be offered in two rounds, the following topics will be addressed in more detail:
- Strategic communication and its main elements: why is it important, also for authori-ties?
- From target group identification to action planning: Strategic communication in the refugee discourse
- Challenges of impact measurement and evaluation of strategic communication using the example of campaigns
- How to communicate on migration with the „moveable middle“ of society
(Some workshops will be in English, some will have interpretation and workshop 2 will only be available in German )
