13.06.2024

On June 12, EMN Estonia organized a workshop addressing the illegal employment of third-country nationals. This workshop brought together experts from Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, and showcased the EMN’s forthcoming study on illegal employment, covering the period from 2017 to 2022.

The workshop covered a range of topics, including national legal frameworks for recruiting third-country nationals, verifying the legality of their work, measures to prevent and combat illegal employment, challenges faced by various authorities, and effective practices and innovative approaches. Experts from the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board, the Finnish Tax Administration, the Finnish Regional State Administrative Agency, the Latvian Border Guard, and the Lithuanian and Polish State Labour Inspectorates delivered presentations. These presentations were followed by a discussion that introduced a broader perspective on labor exploitation and potential human trafficking.

Workshop provided a valuable opportunity for participants to exchange contacts and enhance cross-border cooperation. EMN Estonia extends its gratitude to all participants and contributors!
