Study Migration
Study migration is one of the legal migration pathways available to foreign nationals seeking to enter the European Union, allowing them under certain conditions to pursue studies at higher education institutions and other educational establishments in the host country. It contributes to the internationalisation of higher education, promotes the exchange of knowledge and skills, and enhances the attractiveness of the European Union as a destination for international studies.
Residence permit for studies
A residence permit for studies is a temporary residence permit issued by the Police and Border Guard Board that allows foreign nationals to pursue full-time studies at recognised educational institutions in Estonia.
Foreign nationals holding a residence permit for studies are permitted to work in Estonia, provided that their employment does not interfere with their studies. After completing their studies, foreign nationals may under certain conditions remain in Estonia to seek employment or apply for a residence permit on another basis.
European Union citizens have the right to study in Estonia on the basis of their right of residence. More information about the right of residence of EU citizens is available on the website of the Police and Border Guard Board. Read more.
