Labour migration of third-country nationals has become a central theme in the migration policies of many countries. In several European Union (EU) Member States, the proportion of labour migration has significantly increased, and certain economic sectors have become dependent on foreign labour. In light of the growing volumes of labour migration, the EU and its Member States are also focusing on preventing illegal employment, as it serves as a driving force for irregular immigration. Illegal employment has far-reaching implications and significant economic consequences, substantially impacting countries’ social and fiscal policies, as well as the protection of individual rights.
EMN Estonia is organising 12. in June 2024 from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the House of the European Union (Rävala pst 4) an expert seminar for experts, where topics related to the illegal employment of third-country nationals will be discussed. Experts from Estonia and neighbouring countries have been invited to present and participate in discussions at the seminar. By convening representatives of public authorities active in this field, our objective is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and contacts, and to foster collaborative efforts in combating illegal employment.
The working language of the seminar is English with simultaneous interpretation into Estonian.
