

2024. this spring, the European Union institutions approved a new Migration and Asylum Pact, which provides Member States with a strong legal basis for comprehensive and integrated migration management. The reform creates a unified European Union asylum and migration management system, which enables Member States to jointly move towards long-term and sustainable solutions. Negotiations on the pact’s drafts lasted since 2016, and now a period has begun during which Member States must make preparations for the implementation of legal acts 2026. in.
In this regard, EMN Estonia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, is organizing an introductory event for the Migration and Asylum Pact on October 1, 2024. The aim of the event is to provide an overview of the most important outcomes of the pact and changes in Estonian and European Union practice. Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion on the topic of “Balance Achieved in Eight Years”. At the end of the event, the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and participate in the discussion.
The event will take place at the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences (Kase 61, Tallinn), but it can also be followed online. NB: Participation in the afternoon discussion is only possible on-site!
