As trends and patterns of global migration\u00a0are changing,\u00a0countries around the world\u00a0are\u00a0seeking out\u00a0innovative ways to\u00a0manage\u00a0migration better\u00a0and\u00a0to\u00a0balance the needs of labour markets with long-term goals of social cohesion, social\u00a0security\u00a0and humanitarian concerns.\u00a0Although innovation in the field of migration and asylum can take many shapes\u00a0and forms,\u00a0this conference\u00a0focuses on the creation of\u00a0innovative\u00a0migratory pathways and the adoption of new technologies to address the changing realities of migration and asylum.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The conference of EMN Estonia takes place on 27 January 2022<\/strong> and consists of two sessions.\u00a0The first session of \u2018Rethinking Migration\u2019 conference explores innovative policies in the field of migration, <\/strong>specifically the introduction of talent and skills mobility partnerships and other innovative pathways to create a \u201ctriple-win situation\u201d for countries of origin, destination, and the migrants themselves.\u00a0The aim\u00a0of\u00a0such partnerships is to provide a comprehensive framework to\u00a0better address labour shortages and\u00a0match skills needs between the EU and third countries, while at the same time engaging third countries strategically on migration.\u00a0Talent partnerships also occupy a central role in\u00a0\u2018The New Pact on Migration and Asylum\u2019.\u00a0Additionally,\u00a0other interesting examples of\u00a0innovative work-related pathways\u00a0like digital nomad visas\u00a0are explored\u00a0as well.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alongside policy innovations, there have been significant changes in the tools used in migration management.\u00a0The use of new technologies has been growing substantially over the last decades, altering nearly every sphere of human life, including migration and asylum management. The global Covid-19 pandemic, however, accelerated the speed of digital transformations in the field of migration and asylum globally.\u00a0The second session of the conference focuses on innovative tools and\u00a0the possibilities of\u00a0using\u00a0digitalisation and AI in migration management.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

EMN Estonia Conference is a hybrid event taking place in Tallinn and online via interactive\u00a0Worksup\u00a0environment.\u00a0The conference aims to bring together\u00a0policy-makers, representatives from EU Institutions\/Agencies, practitioners, academics and experts from Member States and beyond.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Conference will be held in Estonian<\/strong> and English.<\/strong><\/p>\n
